The Farid Centre Celebrating World Autism Awareness Day 2024

Every year, on April 2, the global awareness event of World Autism Day is observed in THE FARID CENTRE to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorders (ASD). This special day aims to spread awareness about autism as a disorder and to support those who are suffering from it. It is a global healthcare event that focuses on acceptance, support, and inclusion of autistic people and advocacy of their rights.

What Is Autism?
Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are a diverse group of conditions characterized by some degree of difficulty with social interaction and communication. Other characteristics include a typical patterns of activities and behaviors, such as difficulty with transition from one activity to another, a focus on details, and unusual reactions to sensations.

Causes Of Autism
Among several causes, extreme prematurity or low birth weight, prenatal exposure to air pollution, maternal obesity, diabetes, immune system disorders, or genetics can lead to the development of autism spectrum disorders.

Risk Factors Of Autism
Risk factors include having a sibling with ASD, having certain genetic or chromosomal conditions, experiencing complications at birth, or being born to older parents.

Symptoms Of Autism
Signs of autism in young children include not responding to their name, avoiding eye contact, repetitive movements, and delayed speech development. In older children, signs include difficulty understanding others’ thoughts or feelings, unusual speech, strict adherence to routines, and difficulty making friends.

Treatment Of Autism

World Autism Awareness Day 2024

The FARID CENTRE aim towards autism this year is ‘Empowering Autistic Voices,’ aiming to provide more support and power to individuals with this condition to lead meaningful lives and pursue successful career.

The Farid Centre every year usually organize a walk/seminars for Autism in other to create more awareness.
